CM REDLINGER¶STATEMENT
I draw from life's experiences and the people around me to create my art. I express the feelings I gain from these stimuli in oil paintings, monotypes, and constructions using expressive lines, color, texture, and movement. In my artwork I bring to the surface my personal journey back to my roots filled with promise and only limited by my imagination. I attempt to bring out the beauty from my dreams for freedom, prosperity, and happiness. Some are darker than others, but they still teach me to express from the heart. And some are colorful and whimsical; they are none the less a reflection of a time and place which point to my life and artistic being. Also, I intertwine this artwork with the excitement and wonderment I feel when I am creating art.
Through my artwork, I create art forms to give depth to human emotions. I use art forms as a thesis to express a single moment in time. I favor capturing this action through a fluid line statement. With this freedom of expression I convey the sensation of this experience. The speed with which I execute my mind’s experience preserves the spontaneity and yields expressive distortions. I find there to be certain integrity in clean line work. Simple color is a necessary adjunct for minimum resolution and spatial definition. The surface textures of my work are visual and tactile, resulting from the use of a water-based compound. For me, the work becomes an artifact, emulating a marked cave wall. The emotional and instinctual impulse that has driven me along a path to search for a form of expression has brought out the depths of the spirit of the moment through the texture, color and capturing my mind’s essence.
I am thrilled to share my artwork, my passion. I, like most people, am multi-dimensional in my view of the world around me and this clearly is reflected in these artworks. I have participated in solo and group exhibitions in the U.S.A., Europe, China, Russia, Mexico, and New Zealand.
